Papilio machaon, the Old World swallowtail

The beginning of the swallowtail flight. Both on the territory of the tourist center and on the islands we met these wonderful butterflies. With their wings, they seem to get swim in the hot air and seem to move in slow motion. Despite the fact that the swallowtail is widespread throughout Karelia, it is quite rare everywhere and was included in the Red Book of Karelia 2007 edition.
