A group of divers from China - the first students of this ice diving season - have started Ice Diver PADI course
A new season of training of ice divers at The Arctic Circle Dive Centre has begun! The first group arrived yesterday evening - 8 divers and 2 instructors from China - and today training has begun.
The first half of the day was devoted to Mikhail Safonov’s lecture on the theory of ice diving, the first trainig dives were planned for the afternoon.
But we faced a surprise from the severe northern nature in the form of a strong wind and a blizzard, and thus for safety reasons, it was decided not to dive but to visit the ice camp and to prepare diving gear for the upcoming dives.
The rest of the day was spent exploring the village and the surrounding area. Besides our Chinese guests went on an excursion to the taiga with a picnic by the camp fire, and visited our reindeer farm.
In the evening, in a warm and cozy sitting room of the Dive Centre and Lodge, they continued to study ice diving theory.
